To celebrate the Japanese release of FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster, Yoshinori Kitase and many other staff who worked on the FINAL FANTASY X series wrote special messages looking back on the series ahead of the HD collection’s release on PlayStation 3 & PlayStation Vita.
Kitase is is of course the Producer of the FINAL FANTASY X series and again served as Producer for FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster. He’s also of course the Head of Business Division 1. You can read an English translation of his special message thanks to goldpanner below. Goldpanner is also translating Motomu Toriyama‘s so please look forward to that.
Yoshinori Kitase | FFX Producer | FFX-2 Producer
As FFX-2 was the first direct continuation in the FF series, we staff weren’t able to gain much recognition in the office and weren’t able to meet up at all.
Also, in those days, the name ‘X-2’ was considered a weird numbering style, and at an executive meeting back then it got rejected once. I did come up with another working title, but in the end I got ‘X-2’ through as, after all, the impact was of importance. By the way, you can see a little part of the other working title that got scrapped then in the special content on this title, so please look forward to it!
FFX is said to have the most moving story in the Final Fantasy series.
FFX-2 is said to have the ultimate form of the Final Fantasy ATB battle system.
Both are requisite titles when speaking of the Final Fantasy series.
I can safely assert that these titles, restored after 10 years, are plenty of fun even today.
Please be excited.
